Dropping the Baton

The man across the table from me was successful with a beautiful wife and stable marriage. But my friend was despondent. Why? His dad had dropped the ball.

A father’s role cannot be underestimated. He has the responsibility to bless his children, especially his son, with the blessing of manhood. It’s like a handoff in football. If he misses the opportunity, he drops the ball. But no matter how crucial the fumble, or bungled the handoff, your Heavenly Father welcomes you as his son. He offers you acceptance, security and a brand new start, from wherever the ball lies. The blessing of masculinity is not always handed off effectively. However, our Heavenly Father provides His blessing. In other words, He always recovers the fumble.
