Even though I trust in God, things seem to keep going wrong. Why?

Every Christian has to determine if Planet Earth is a Target store, a Disneyland or a one room school.

If it’s a Target store then the logical agenda for us is to learn how to curry God’s favor so we can keep our shopping carts full until we eject from the planet. If it’s a Disneyland, then our goal should be to “stay happy.” Both of those are unbiblical cul-de-sacs which could never conform us to the image of Christ.

Earth is a one room school, a prep school. The Holy Spirit has enrolled Christians in required courses which are designed to prepare us for our eternal occupation…to be the bride of the God of the Universe and co-reign with Him forever and ever and ever and ever and ever, and even then we’ve just begun! That being the case, it’s foolish to live to get the cart full or “be happy” continually, but wise to begin cooperating with Him as He uses life’s circumstances to conform me to Christ’s image (See Rom. 8:29; Phil. 1:6).

Those who have been crucified with Christ (Rom. 6:6) have no rights, they can’t control anything, they can’t complain or worry or cry over spilled milk. They do not fret about the past, present or the future. Those who are reborn and alive in Christ are not “under the circumstances” but above them, beyond them. Such is your relationship to this world. You are seated in the heavenlies in Christ (Eph. 2:6).

Students don’t own anything in the school. Everything is owned by the Teacher. The Owner has rights, the students have responsibility. We are responsible for using the Owner’s resources according to His will. Hey, you don’t even own your toenail trimmings!

We’ve got good counselors on our staff who can serve you by helping you appropriate your identity in Christ as taught in our materials. Call us if we can serve you in this manner.
