Fully Convinced of God’s Love

Have you ever considered how different life would look if you truly grasped the magnitude of God’s love for you? This question has been rattling around in my head for the past couple months.  I’m convinced how we live would be very different, if we understood God’s love for us.

Our human experience is often the obstacle that hinders our ability to grasp the full extent of the love of God. God’s love for us is uniquely different from the love we receive from others, in that it is unchanged by our behavior or our performance. Sure, we’ve heard that truth taught from many pulpits, but do our lives reflect a belief that God’s love for us is unconditional?

Everything I need is available in His embrace.  His heart for me holds nothing but good. His heart for you is just the same. His plan is not to trick us with some grand scheme. Rather, each day is filled with simple expressions of his genuine love, care and concern for us.  It’s true. The evidence is there. As 1 John 4:16 explains, God is love – that’s who He is. My behavior does not and cannot change who He is. It’s settled; God loves me.

As we are surrounded with the symbols and romantic notions of human love during the month of February, I pray we encounter God’s love anew on a very personal level and become fully convinced of the breadth, length, height and depth of His love for us.
