As a young superstar, A-Rod admitted facing "an enormous amount of pressure to perform." He told a reporter, "I felt like I had all the weight of the world on top of me and I needed to perform, and perform at a high level every day." Of course what he did was wrong, and I'm not making excuses for him, but certain situations made it easy for him to fall in love with the fame, the adulation of the fans, and the financial rewards that accompanied his success.
Success at any level (not just in sports superstars) is a fertile soil for growing pride. And pride, in its sneaky subtle way, causes us to forget how God sees us. We're so enamored with how success feels, that we'll do anything to continue its streak. Thus, we begin to think that the rules don't apply to our situation. We think that we are the source of our success, and God...well He's just someone we acknowledge in public.
This week, Anabel elaborates on this with part two of her article on Steer Clear of Pride.

Before I let you get on with it, I want to take a moment to congratulate Caryn Walker on her 15th anniversary at Lifetime Guarantee. If you've called or emailed our office, you've probably corresponded with her. If you’ve placed an order, she prayed over your product before shipping it out. She's one of the sweetest, most humble people I know, and we are so blessed to have her wisdom and experience...and I hope she forgives me for writing this.
