Vision and Revelation

What is it about vision that is powerful…even essential?

“Where there is no vision'or, revelation'people run amuck” (Pr. 29:18 para). Our hearts and minds are blind without vision and revelation.

This infirmity creates insecurity and fear of such magnitude that we lose our way. We panic. Make bad choices.

One of the sobering stories of Scripture occurs when Moses descends the mountain from receiving the Ten Commandments. His assistant, Aaron, has failed to honor God's vision and Israel has fashioned a golden idol in the form of a shimmering calf. Around this molten god the people dance and denigrate themselves with an orgy. The story ends with over 3,000 dying in a purge.

It was true then and it is true now: Without vision and revelation we do not have the necessary elements to be focused, healthy people.

Jesus cast a vision and revelation to Simon and Andrew: “Follow me (vision), and I will make you (revelation)” (ref. Mt. 4:19). These elements guided the blood brothers until their deaths as martyrs.

Fascinating! The same vision and revelation belongs to us. We are called to know and follow Jesus. Now, that's a vision! And the revelation? It boggles our hearts and minds: He pledges to make us'form us, build us, equip us.

Businesses and churches change vision statements regularly. They hire consultants, adopt new tag lines, and design fresh logos. Then they print letterhead, update their website, and capitalize upon their raw energy.

Interesting that God has not changed His vision or revelation since He first cast it within man's heart and mind. His methods change'e.g., God has always capitalized upon the latest technology'but He and His revelation are timeless, unchanging, and flawless.

For example: Our office staff numbers one-third what it did ten years ago, but today we reach more people in one month than we did in one year…ten years ago. Did you get that? And, this exponential increase of ministry is fueled by two-thirds the budget we had ten years ago. Those are incredible economics! Think what could be done with yesterday's budget today!

Today, we sublet what once was our studio space to a church staff. Rooms filled with elaborate electronics now fit in a medium-sized bag. Analog waves used to carry our ministry via radio into 55 cities. Today, our ministry is digitized'literally, a series of 1's and 0's'carried in electronic packets via light waves to nearly every corner of the globe.

You read their stories! People look to Lifetime for practical understanding of how to know and follow Jesus. From LGI they understand that they do not work to become like Him, but collaborate in His process to make them according to His vision for them. Statistically, many thousands of folks from over one hundred forty countries look to lifetime.org for spiritual revelation and guidance…every month.

Here's the deal: Your prayers and financial gifts deliver vision (for the heart) and revelation (for the mind) to thousands all over the world. “Yesterday” this occurred at specific times. Today this happens every minute of every hour of every day of every month… and this has been the case at LGI since the year after the very first website launched!

The message is simple: Christ in you is the hope of glory. It is original: Christ is the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. It is central: Christ in you, living through you. It is compelling: You are the demonstration of God in Christ reconciling man to Himself. The message is a partnership: Your collaboration with us makes God's vision possible.

I invite you to join Father's grand adventure into the lives of people throughout the world.
Preston Gillham

P.S. As you know, Lifetime is not a “flash” ministry. We are steady. LGI formed over thirty years ago to deliver the Gospel of the New Covenant. Our message is the same. Our methods, are cutting edge. We are after the hearts and lives of the next generations! Join us. Embrace Father’s vision.
