What You Are Thankful For

More than a week has passed since Thanksgiving, and two weeks have passed since I asked you to tell me what you are thankful for this year. Until I read your responses, I was already finding myself drifting over into an unthankful attitude where I take credit for the blessings in my life. Normally my ministry is to encourage you, but last week you encouraged me. Thank you!

Here are some of your responses:

“I am really thankful for the grace of God. God has been leading me on a journey about grace (even though I’ve been a believer in fellowship with Him for nearly thirty years.) So often we think we grasp a concept because we grasp it intellectually…or think we do. I am learning about grace in my daily life, my daily failures and God’s daily faithfulness and generosity. I am experiencing a thankfulness I’ve never before felt to this degree, not because God hadn’t blessed me, but because I’ve begun to rest in His work instead of working myself. This is great stuff! The emails from eGrace have played a part in this journey and I am grateful for all of you as well. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! God Bless : )”

“God has done so many wonderful things in my life this past year. I am grateful for His protection over my sweetheart who has many physical problems and making provision s for all of our needs. The most wonderful thing He has done is to give us a beautiful granddaughter. She is our first grandchild. She has brought us so much joy. I am grateful for all the wonderful people like you on the Internet that have inspired me with devotions, poetry, and words of wisdom. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my gratitude with you.“

“First I’d like to say thank you for the wonderful encouragement. I love eGrace and have shared your newsletter with my brothers and sisters in Christ. A couple later told me that they subscribed. eGrace is truly a blessing. I’m thankful for a forgiving and loving God; a Savior who loves me in spite of how often I blow it! I’m thankful for being able to pray and intercede on the behalf of others and see my prayers manifest in a timely manner. I’m thankful for my beautiful daughters and my grandson. I’m grateful for the mercy God has and continues to have on America.”

“I have so many things to grateful for this year I hardly know where to begin. I am so blessed to be in a marriage that is God honoring. We became grandparents this year and that too is something that has enhanced our lives greatly. Although, I feel the most blessed because our church did the 40 Days to Freedom with Bill and Anabel. That study has taught me so much, more specifically, that I am in Christ. I had not been able to grasp these truths in my own study and it has enriched my spirit life immensely. As I reflect on the things that the Lord has taught me this year, I am overwhelmed with His unconditional love and how he expresses it to me daily in His creation and Word. Thank you for all you do!”
– Madeline

“[I’m thankful for] time spend with my 16 month grandson Brandon, time spend with my 89 year old mother Mamie who has been in constant pain for over a month, my two daughters Robbin and April, being able to pray and share with my friends, church group and persons I meet each day. Sometimes the pray is silent but the smile and eye contact is obvious. being able to study God’s word anytime day or night and to share scripture with others.”
– Laura

“I am thankful God is faithful, I look forward to your eGrace and they seem to come just when I need that particular message and confirmation that God is good. As my family has gone thru 3 difficult years, with my husband losing his job and my daughter with an injury that the doctors at Stanford cannot find the source of nerve damage, I continue to be blessed by Annabel’s messages. I forward them to my daughter for encouragement. Keep up the awesome work!, I am very THANKFUL for your words of encouragement and faith.”

“I am so grateful for the power of prayer. My husband just recently had open heart surgery for a double by-pass–totally unexpected. . . . it was such a blessing to us to know that we were being prayed for and that God had sent special people to care for my husband. . . .God also gave us such a sense of His peace and His presence through the entire experience. By the way, my husband continues to recover well, even though he tires easily. I love eGrace and have shared it with my pastor and other friends as articles came up that were relative to what was happening in our church or in other’s lives.”

“When you suggested that we write and tell you what we are thankful for I really had to think. This year has been one of the most trying as far as our financial stability goes. But on closer examination I find that I can only marvel at how God consistently gave us a way to pay for the tuition for our children to be in Christian school. I have said all year that I would lose my car before I would give up this education, but God has found a way to allow me to keep both going each month. I have to also point out that I feel I am one of the luckiest women in the world God led me to my soul mate at 21 and 11 years later he still is! We struggle with our faith daily but I think everyone does. I’ve learned in the last year to give my relationships over to God ( I do however steal them back quite often). I am thankful for two healthy children, that I am privileged to parent and love. So aside from the ever nagging worry over bills and debt, which really is a small thing. I am thankful for family and God’s continued goodness in my life even though I am such a small person with deep spiritual struggles!”
– Kim

“I am thankful for our Father who sent his Son to die on the cross for my sins, past, present and future. I am thankful for a loving wife who has survived cancer through his grace and the prayers of a loving church family. I am thankful for New Hope Baptist Church in Fayetteville, GA, a large loving family of Christians. I am thankful that we continue to have a Christian President who publicly demonstrates his love for the Lord. I am thankful for a strong military that defends this countries ideals, even though not everyone agrees with our policies. Thank you Lifetime Guarantee for the work that you do.”
– Steve

“I’m thankful that God has emotions and feelings and comforts me by His presence.”
– Arlene

“I am happy that my military husband is home with me during Thanksgiving. I’d like to ask for prayer for those spouse’s that aren’t so lucky.”
– Kristie

“Hi, Enjoy your messages. I am thankful that our Faithful God has heard my prayers for my family and I am beginning to see Him working in them. God is Good!
– Joan

“I am personally thankful to God for leading our (my husband Gerry and my) path across Bill and Anabel in the late 70’s. The truths they helped us digest related to living in the power of the Holy Spirit have made ALL the difference in our Christian life. Keep Anabel writing as long as she will do it. I love her illustrations.”
