Discovering God's Will:
A Journey Beyond Decision-Making
This guide emphasizes the importance of knowing God's character and voice to navigate life's decisions, transforming the quest for His will into a spiritual journey of intimacy and understanding.
Dear Seeker of God’s Will,
Discovering God's will is often perceived as a quest for direct answers to life's decisions.
However, this understanding is limited. The essence of discerning God's will lies not in seeking specific instructions but in cultivating a deep, personal relationship with God.
Seek God, Not Just Answers: Understanding God's will transcends the simplistic desire for straightforward answers like "yes" or "no." It's about immersing yourself in a relationship with God to comprehend His heart and ways.
Learn God's Voice: Familiarity with God’s voice is crucial. It comes from spending time with Him, not merely through seeking signs or waiting for explicit directions. Recognizing God's voice is a result of regular, intimate communication with Him.
Know God Deeply: Your relationship with God should not be transactional – seeking answers in exchange for prayers or good deeds. God desires a relationship where you know Him deeply, beyond a mere give-and-take dynamic.
Learn God’s Character: Understanding God's will is intricately linked with understanding His ways. Like knowing a person's character can give insights into their decisions, knowing God helps in discerning His will.
Engage with God: The journey to know God’s will is not about avoiding mistakes or ensuring perfect decisions. It's about the ongoing process of engaging with God, understanding His heart, and aligning your desires with His.
Build Intimacy: Emphasize building intimacy with God. As this relationship deepens, so does your understanding of His will. Your focus should shift from seeking specific instructions to nurturing a close bond with God.
Respond to His Invitation: View God’s will as an invitation to engage with Him, to understand His thoughts, and to participate in His dreams. This perspective shifts the emphasis from fear of making wrong choices to a journey of mutual sharing and understanding.
Remember, knowing God's will is not a one-time event but a continuous process rooted in a growing, loving relationship with Him. It's about knowing Him, His heart, and His ways, which in turn illuminates the path He wishes you to walk.
In your journey to understand God's will, let your primary aim be to know God Himself. In doing so, the understanding of His will becomes a natural extension of your relationship with Him.
Sincerely,
