I’m struggling with sexual addiction. Am I really saved?

Salvation is absolutely within your grasp. The Bible is very clear about this. In Paul’s letter to the Romans (Chapter 10, verses 9-11), he states, “… if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. For the Scripture says, ‘Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.’” Once you have done this you may or may not experience immediate freedom from your sexual addictions. Usually this freedom is experienced only as we daily remind ourselves that we are now a child of God who has been freed from the power of these temptations and we are no longer obligated to fall to them.

Each day and numerous times throughout the day we must remind ourselves that we are alive to God’ s love, to His self-control and to His power and we are dead to Satan and his temptations. Take the first step and confess Jesus as The Lord and Your Lord and believe in His resurrection and then daily allow Him, in His wisdom and power, lead you to victory over these sexual lusts.

The most important responsibility you have as a new believer is to get to know Jesus both as God and friend. This might best be done by prayerfully reading and re-reading the following books of the Bible: Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians and Colossians. Also seek the leadership of a mature believer in a local church. God will be faithful to provide for your needs.
